Some vehicle models may behave slightly differently when charging across multiple UK networks.
In rare cases, this is due to vehicle software rather than the charger itself. We work closely with manufacturers and monitor known behaviours across networks.
Below are model-specific tips that may help you start or stop your charge more smoothly.
Mazda MX-30
Charging compatibility guidance
Some earlier Mazda MX-30 vehicles may experience difficulty initiating a charge on ABB rapid chargers across multiple networks.
This is linked to vehicle software compatibility rather than a charger fault.
What to do
- Check with your Mazda retailer that your vehicle software is updated to the latest version
- If charging does not start, unplug, return the connector fully to the charger, and begin the process again
- A software update typically resolves this behaviour.
- If you are unsure whether the charger itself may be at fault, please contact our support team before leaving site.
Genesis GV60
If charging does not start:
- Support both the handle and cable while inserting to ensure correct alignment
- Hold the connector firmly in place for a few seconds so the vehicle’s internal locking pin can fully engage with the charger connector and allow the session to start
- If the cable will not release:
- Try reducing the target charge percentage in your vehicle settings
If you are experiencing low charging speeds, Genesis may advise a vehicle software update. Please ensure our support team has confirmed the charger is operating normally before contacting your retailer.
Mercedes-Benz EQA
If charging does not start:
- Support both the handle and cable during insertion
- Ensure the connector is fully seated before releasing
- This helps prevent misalignment during handshake.
MG Vehicles
If charging does not start, try this sequence:
- Open the charging flap
- Lock the vehicle
- Authorise payment (app or contactless)
- When prompted to plug in, unlock the vehicle
- Insert the connector promptly
This sequence can help resolve handshake timing issues on some models.
